Born August 31, 1969 with divine purpose Overseer Gregory D. Hunter was anointed and ordained in his mothers womb to chase after God. Attending Ephesians Church of God in Christ from an infant, he grew up daily attending noonday prayer with his God Mother, Sis. Allen. She would faithfully bring him to prayer with her and would pray from him without ceasing. The love for God was being instilled in him. He remembers even as a toddler, hearing the saints at Ephesians crying out to God and calling on the name Jesus. Even at this age God was equipping him and endowing him with many gifts and talents. Greg loved going to church. He started playing the drums at a very young age. His love for music increased and he began to pursue other instruments While growing up in Ephesians, he was privileged to hear some of the worlds renowned musicians, songwriters and preachers. The Pastor, Bishop E.E. Cleveland, Edwin Hawkins, Walter Hawkins, Renard Chuck Webb, Rev. Elijah Green and many others attended Ephesians COGIC. These influences were pouring into him and molding a future phenomenal musician, songwriter, producer and preacher. All of this placed Greg in a position to hear from God. At the age of nineteen he surrendered his life to the Lord, accepted the call to the ministry and gave God a complete yes. During the early stages of his ministry, his love for music went hand and hand with his preaching gift. He began to play the drums for various Bay Area churches and Community choirs. The Berkeley Inspirational Voices, a choir of young people who loved the Lord, led by his God brother Donnell Thomas, launched Greg to another level. He became multifaceted, he moved from the drums to leading songs to eventually playing the organ for the choir. Greg always wanted to be the best, so once he started playing the organ he would go to different church services watching and learning chord progressions and technique from Renard Webb, Sylvester Burke, Enoch Handy and Charles Jackson to name a few. He had the privilege of being under their tutor ledge and he began to master his gift and develop his own style. He would later be summoned to play for various recording artists, Rev. Daryl Coley, Dorinda Clark-Cole, LaShun Pace, Eugene Cole, Lawrence Matthews and so many others. His gifts and talents made room for him and God led him to a man that would usher him to another dimension in ministry. His mentor and father in the ministry Pastor Gordon A. Humphrey Jr., would pour into him and equip him with what he needed. While attending the Olivet Institutional Missionary Baptist Church for close to twenty years, his preaching gift was deepened and his leadership skills sharpened. While being under the leadership and covering of Pastor Humphrey many things were birthed in Greg. While being apart of this ministry, he held various positions Minister of Praise and Worship, Dean of the Ministerial Staff, organized the Ordination Service for seven ministers of Olivet, developed ministers and scheduled their first sermons. While pursuing ministry, preaching, producing CD projects (along with his co-laborer and brother-in-law Pastor Jeffery Williams), the first being their home church Olivet, Sunday Night Live, Eugene Cole & Persuaded, Peace Gospel Choir and most recently Peniel Baptist Church, God said theres more to do, Greg heard his voice and by faith obeyed. God said there are people crying out for more. They need a church that wants to experience the fullness of God through prayer, praise, worship and the Word. Celebration Worship Center was birthed August 2003, celebrated their first service January 4, 2004 and has seen God do the miraculous since its conception. May 27th, 2005, Pastor Greg affectionately called by his congregation, was ordained as Overseer of Praise & Worship in the Assembly of Bible Believers under the leadership and covering of Bishop Keith L. Clark. He is well equipped for this new season in his life. He was born for this, to usher individuals into their divine destinies. He and his congregation declare EVERY week that Im highly favored and Im walking in good success, this is my year, this is my season. Thanks be to God to giveth us the victory through Jesus Christ our Lord.
